D M Sullivan Furnishing Ltd
Beautiful Bespoke Furniture London

As an interior designer, my job is to come up with ideas and to solve practical problems in beautiful ways. The difficulty sometimes is finding somebody with the skills to turn those creative ideas into beautiful, usable and faultless reality.
When I designed two bespoke oak bookcases; both with hidden doorways for my own home - it was Doug and his wonderful team at DM Sullivan Furnishing Ltd that won the contract, mostly due to their excitement and enthusiasm in making these unusual pieces for us.
I could not be more delighted with the result. Both bookcases are stunning; beautiful pieces of quality craftsmanship, coupled with carefully researched engineering to ensure the hidden doors move smoothly and easily every time. We take constant delight in using these bookshelves and doors every day, and especially enjoy surprising our guests with them!
I can highly recommend Doug and his team as talented and knowledgeable cabinetmakers. They are charming people to work with, and are tidy and respectful workers on site.

My name is Susan Roberts.

I have worked with Doug Sullivan for the past year. I was employed by HDC architects to oversee a project in Cockfoster. A large 5 bedroom house and was introduced to Doug Sullivan, when he was commissioned to make some bespoke furniture for my client. The designs were extraordinary. Doug's craftsmanship was unique, his ideas and workmanship were exemplary. I would gladly recommend Doug Sullivan. My clients have included several Arsenal players and more recent work at The Institute of Directors in Pall Mall.

I called Mr Sullivan after seeing an advert of his on a Google search for cabinet makers in Essex. He has a very professional website, with some beautiful images of pieces that he had made, which is what attracted me to call him above all others I had looked at.

I left him a message and he called me back very quickly, when he asked me for a basic idea of what I wanted, the finish and size of the piece. I wanted a bookcase to fit a large wall area. He was able to give me a rough estimate there and then. He said it was best to be honest so that we both knew if we could work together. I was still interested and made an appointment for him to visit my home.

Doug was very polite and courteous. He took measurements for the shelving and asked me lots of questions about more specific design elements. he have me some great ideas about what more I could do with the space. Subsequently, he was always on time for any appointment and always cleanly dressed and smiling.

He called me within a few days with a price for the job, which I accepted, and he told me that he would have the item completed and fitted within 3 - 4 weeks. During this time he called periodically to double check certain finer details and advise on moving plug sockets and radiators, and provided detailed drawings.

Sure enough after 3 weeks Doug called to confirm the date of fitting. He came to my house on a very cold December day with an assistant and worked hard all day. He came back at 8am the following day and worked all day through to 6pm to finish off. He was clean and tidy throughout, tidying up after himself at the end of the day. On the last day he left the fascias of the bookcase taped up, and I offered to take the tape off the following day to save him a trip back. Early the next morning, I received a text from him saying that he was in my area and that he would come and take the tape off!

I realised at this point that Doug is a real perfectionist. He wanted to see his work in natural daylight and he spent ages touching up small imperfections in the wood.

Doug even gave me some advice on some broken chairs that I have and offered to help repair them which he did - an unexpected extra!

We are so pleased with Dougs work. It is far more beautiful than I could have imagined. He is a very talented man with an amazing eye for design.

Yours faithfully

Alison Bryan.
